The Big Bakes Various

The Big Manchester Bakes is a vibrant new immersive baking venue inspired by the romance of the British countryside and the optimism of mid century American modernism. The venue reimagines the baking experience as a joyful, social and creatively charged environment.

The interior evokes the feeling of a summer’s day in and around a baking marquee, where guests take part in an award‑winning 90‑minute baking experience inside a fully equipped tent. The surrounding venue is designed to shift in tone throughout the day — bright and energetic during daytime sessions, warm and atmospheric as evening approaches.

A mid‑century Americana‑inspired cocktail bar forms the social heart of the space, encouraging guests to stay, relax and enjoy the venue beyond the baking experience.

The design pays homage to the colourful eccentricity of pioneering British TV chefs of the 1950s and ’60s — including Fanny Craddock, Marguerite Patten and Phillip Harben — who introduced the joy of baking to households across the UK. It also draws inspiration from Manchester’s own baking pioneer, Elizabeth Raffald, whose influence helped shape the city’s culinary heritage.

A curated mix of patterns, textures and warm materials creates a sense of dynamism and comfort, while nostalgic details & vintage‑inspired graphics — celebrate the culture and communal spirit of the baking experience.

The Big Manchester Bakes is designed as a joyful, personality‑rich venue that captures the fun, accessibility and memorable spirit at the heart of The Big Bakes vision.
